Climate change

Climate change is a significant change in global or regional weather patterns. It is the biggest threat that the reef faces. Climate change is caused by a build-up of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane in the earth's atmosphere. As carbon pollution is emitted into Earth’s atmosphere, it traps heat and causes temperatures to rise. The ocean then becomes warmer, resulting in heatwaves that cause stress to corals. Ocean heatwaves can destroy entire reef ecosystems and the marine life that depend on healthy, thriving corals. The main cause of this build-up is human activities. Over the last century, the burning of fossil fuels like coal and oil has increased the concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide. Landfills and an aggressive agriculture industry also help them build up and deforestation takes away the precious amounts of oxygen still left. This is why we must switch to renewable energy and help clean the environment before it's too late. Your donation can help us to build more renewable energy sources and help research climate change.
